Companies

A Galway-based theatre company creating work in English and Irish for young people and adults. Moonfish produces classics, new writing and devised work that can embrace shadow work, live music, dance and more.

Moonfish produce theatre for young people and adults. Our work is defined by its energy, imagination and quality. We produce classics, new writing and devised work. All our productions aim to immerse our audience in a theatrical experience. We have used shadow work, live music, dance, song, live foley, projection and more to create these experiences… they are always different but each is created with a passion for theatre.

In 2013 Moonfish were awarded the Stewart Parker Trust / BBC Northern Ireland Irish Language Theatre award for their acclaimed production, Tromluí Phinocchio, which premièred at the Dublin Fringe Festival before touring Ireland, finishing up at the Baboró International Children’s Arts Festival.

Most recently, Moonfish premiered their stage adaptation of Joseph O'Connor's novel Star of the Sea at the Galway International Arts Festival 2014. The adaptation was devised by the Moonfish ensemble and co-produced by An Taibhdhearc.

TOURING POLICY

Moonfish has always aimed to reach as wide and diverse an audience as possible. Our first production, Bonny & Read, premiered in Galway in 2006 and toured to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2007. Since then, almost every production has toured nationally. We believe that theatre is an important cultural asset and should be accessible to all. Our productions The Secret Garden and Tromluí Phinocchio/ Pinocchio - A Nightmare toured around Ireland in 2011 and 2013 respectively. We hope to continue to tour both nationally and internationally with all forthcoming productions.
