In Derry's Culture Year 2013, Handful Productions worked with the Foyle Haven centre for the homeless and street drinkers on the Big Lottery funded project, Every Bottle has a Story to Tell. It comprises a professional play production telling the Haven service users' story in their own words, a DVD and an anthology of their writing and played to great popular an d critical acclaim, sell out audiences and, by popular demand, a short tour. Handful/Foyle Haven will be building on the project's success in 2014, extending it to a wider audience, publishing a new edition of the anthology and experimenting with film.

The company supported and was an integral part of a host of creative writing and drama events throughout 2013 and will build on this legacy in the coming 12 months.

Handful won four of the five major awards at the City of Derry One Act Play Festival in November 2012 for their production of Kevin Doherty's Too Many Candles, which continued to tour in 2013. The overall winner of the 2011 UK National Lottery Award for best heritage project for We Were Brothers, Handful Productions toured both the professional and the youth adaptations of this WW1 play from 2010-12. Handful's ethos is to make new theatre accessible and relevant to all and its portfolio features the factual and historical, and plays based on social issues, by contemporary Irish writers. It has charitable status.
