An Grianán Theatre has staged many full scale productions over the years including works by Brian Friel, Martin McDonagh and John B Keane. Creative partners to date have included Yew Tree Theatre Company, Cork Opera House, Pavilion Theatre, Civic Theatre and The Lyric, Belfast. In addition they have undertaken a number of community arts projects including large scale productions of The Winter’s Tale, A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, Thomas Kilroy’s The O’Neill and Brian Friel’s The Aristocrats which afforded local amateur and semi-professional performers the opportunity to work alongside theatre professionals. On a more intimate scale they have facilitated smaller scale dramas performed by local theatre practitioners. These have included Brian Friel’s Molly Sweeney and Bill C Davis’ Mass Appeal, Bassam by Idan Meir, Manny Man Does the History of Ireland on Stage by John D Ruddy and The Experience of Being by Carol Moore and The Songbirds by Guy Le Jeune. They have also developed a number of original plays celebrating the culture and heritage of Donegal including Fiesta, Unified, On The Camel's Hump, Shooting the Gear and I Would Walk These Fields Again which were developed as part of the theatre's artist in Residence programme. They have also taken a number of projects out into the local community delivering workshops and performances from performers such as Little John Nee and the team behind Bassam.
