Tá polasaí ealaíne na Mainistreach dírithe ar thodhchaí suntasach a chruthú d’amharclannaíocht na hÉireann. Chun é sin a chur i gcríoch déantar coimisiúnú agus léiriú ar shaothar nua agus déantar infheistíocht agus forbairt ar scríbhneoirí agus ealaíontóirí amharclainne nua Éireannacha. Cruthaíonn Amharclann na Mainistreach drámaíocht den chéad scoth, a théann i dteagmháil go gníomhach le, agus a léiríonn sochaí na hÉireann. Bíonn léachtaí, pléghrúpaí agus ceardlanna ar siúl ag an Mhainistir, mar aon le himeachtaí for-rochtana le forbairt a dhéanamh ar pháirtíocht an phobail leis an amharclann. Tá sárcháil idirnáisiúnta ar Amharclann na Mainistreach agus tá sé mar aidhm aici camchuairt a thabhairt go náisiúnta agus go hidirnáisiúnta.
