Founded in 1974, Siamsa Tíre - The National Folk Theatre - preserves and fosters regionally distinct traditional art in all its forms through the presentation of our folk theatre productions and our training and education programmes.
At the heart of Siamsa Tíre lies a five person professional core group of full-time players supported by selected artists drawn from the local community but trained in the unique Siamsa style and idiom.
Recent developments have included a number of multi-disciplinary, process based, collaborative projects which explode many preconceptions about the nature of 'folk' and breakdown some of the perceived barriers between artforms.
Touring policy: Siamsa Tíre tours to venues throughout Ireland, North and South, and overseas from February to March and from November to December.
