The Arts Council

Companies

Talking Shop Ensemble is a theatre-making collective founded in 2008 by theatre-makers Aisling Byrne, Lisa Walsh, Oonagh Murphy and Robbie Sinnott. TSE collaborate with writer and performer Shaun Dunne.

The company makes work that is playful and form-flipping in style- combining documentary with new writing and using the ensemble throughout.

The company is mainly interested in work that talks about Ireland today and have so far tackled subjects such as emigration, (I am a Homebird), unemployment (Death of the Tradesmen) and Intellectual Disability Service Provision (Advocacy).

Talking Shop Ensemble believe theatre should talk about what it is to live here and now. That said; the company are very interested in taking an intertextual approach to the new work they create. So far the company have played with work from Brian Friel to Arthur Miller- always with a view to adding their own perspective to conversations other artists have contributed to in the past.

Talking Shop strive to work nationally and internationally, taking their work to other shores where they feel the subjects they treat will have an important social resonance.

Talking Shop Ensemble are supported by Rough Magic Production Support.
