The Arts Council

Companies

Formed in 2004 to produce classic drama, the company has toured extensively. Specializing in Beckett, Shakespeare and Pinter the company has moved towards adaptations in the last few years. New versions of Molière’s The School for Wives and The Misanthrope by Peter Reid have received high praise and been revived. An adaptation from Joyce’s Ulysses by Peter Reid CYCLOPS was part of the Bloomsday festival and the Fishamble New Play Clinic. DESIRE by Peter Reid, an adaptation of Tolstoy’s final novella relocated to Ireland, was produced in 2014 and 2018.

The production of Waiting for Godot (originally staged in 2005) is still on tour, the highlight being invited to The Arts Theatre, West End, London to be the first company to perform it in that venue since Peter Hall’s original 1955 production (receiving 5 star reviews). That production has toured Hong Kong and Singapore ('08,'10,'12,'14,'15) and returns to Hong Kong and SG and a UK tour in 2018.

In 2012 they were nominated for Best Production in the Irish Times Theatre Awards for PINTER x 4 (a site-specific piece of Pinter’s political plays).
