The goal of Galway Theatre Festival is to bring a fresh and lively programme of performance to the streets and venues of Galway, evoking a raw energy and adventurous spirit in our audiences that captures the essence of the Wild Atlantic Way. Galway Theatre Festival draws on Galway's unique theatrical heritage as the home of Druid Theatre, and is one of Ireland's only festivals dedicated to theatre and performance. The Festival provides a platform for national artists and artists based in the West of Ireland, bringing together a high-quality programme that showcases the best and newest talents in theatre, spectacle, circus, story-telling and immersive performance. The 2015 Festival includes a special Bank Holiday programme of events, featuring guided tours of Galway's theatrical heritage, story-telling, site-specific performance and spectacle, and late-night comedy. In its main programme the Festival will feature shows by award-winning theatre artists, as well as opportunities for adventurous audience members to test-run new theatrical creations. An unmissable opportunity to experience the vibrant creativity that makes Galway the cultural capital of the West! In its short history, the Festival has presented several Irish & world premieres, site-specific performances, professional readings of new scripts and revivals of modern classics. The Festival is kindly supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, Galway City Council and its generous producers and sponsors. It is produced by Galway Arts Centre with the assistance of the following partners: Town Hall Theatre, Galway; An Taibhdhearc; and Druid Theatre Company.
